The Westin Dublin

The Westin Dublin hotel, which occupies most of the block on Westmoreland Street, College Street and Fleet Street, has had a number of past lives. Steeped in history this renowned building, formerly the Allied Irish Bank, has kept its unique character while been transformed into a luxury 5-star hotel.

The main hotel entrance on Westmoreland Street No.40-41 was a former warehouse back in the 1800’s. It was remodelled in 1875 for The Scottish Widows Insurance Company in an Italian Romanesque style. The original clock from 1864 outside the Exchange has been cleaned and restored and above the clock is the original bronze sign for the Pearl building, which has also been restored. In 1875 the original hotel on site, The George Hotel & Restored to its former glory, the magnificent Banking Hall serves as the signature feature of our hotel. Dating from 1863, it has an ornate ceiling, original hand-carved pediment over the entrance, and four chandeliers crafted from 8,000 pieces of Waterford crystal. The room has its own separate entrance from College Green.

Behind the historic 19th century façade, the 172 recently renovated guest bedrooms and corridors over the five floors of the building are uniquely Irish in their design. Stylish and fresh, featuring deep-buttoned chocolate leather headboards, and delicate colouring to create a calm yet luxurious atmosphere. Each room features our signature Heavenly Bed® to ensure a restful and refreshing night’s sleep for you to approach the next day with renewed enthusiasm.
